We sure were impressed when we received a Christine’s Heroes nomination for the Schragger children. For the past 4 summers Ben (age 14), Ali (11) and Morgan (9) Schragger have organized and hosted a carnival at their home in Titusville, NJ. Their goal has been to raise money for their favorite charities while creating an exciting summer experience for younger kids in the Hopewell Community.
Pulling off an event like this is no easy task. They spent the entire year planning for
it! They collected hundreds of “prizes” to be handed out during the carnival and spent a great deal of time planning out the games. Ben donated his own sports cards to sell during the carnival while Ali and Morgan made friendship bracelets and feather clips to sell at their own table.
The “Schragger Carnival” continues to grow each year and this past summer more than 30 neighbors and friends participated. 100% of the carnival proceeds are donated to
a charity. This year the kids chose to donate through onesimplewish.org and purchased a Water and Sand Table for “Joyce”, a foster child living in Trenton. Previous charities include the Hurricane Katrina relief fund, a local animal shelter and the Louverture Cleary School in Haiti.
We are truly blessed to have three exceptional children in our community such as Ben, Ali and Morgan Schragger. They are an inspiration to those around them and their sense of community, generosity and passion for helping children in need is exactly what Christine’s Hope for Kids is all about. They are ordinary people doing extraordinary things for our community. That is why we are so happy and proud to present this award to them!
